The Atlas Club is fighting against the unhealthy culture around fitness.
Many people experience an unhealthy culture around gyms and fitness. People feel judged, pressurised to conform to certain standards or even excluded completely. This toxicity can lead to body shaming, exclusivity and elitism with an overemphasis on the aesthetic. The Atlas Club is absolutely determined to re-claim gyms and physical exercise as positives that can improve both our mental and physical health. We will work with you to create programmes that promote holistic well-being, inclusivity and genuine all-round health. Whether you want to improve your fitness for your sport, or so you can take your dog on longer walks – we will work with you to embed positivity at the heart of everything we do. We will help you understand your motivations and find the positives in what you want to achieve: “I want to build my stamina so I can play the full 90 minutes with my football team.” “I want to increase my strength so I can carry my grandchild on my shoulders.” The Atlas Club will work with you to develop an exercise plan that builds on healthy movement and exercises that focus on those positive motivations. Healthy movement focuses on how your body feels as you move it, instead of how it looks, how many calories you’re burning, or how it will affect your body shape or size. It’s about moving in ways you enjoy and that enhance your well-being, and that move you towards that positive physical achievement.
